Student Training Module

How to enable and use the Student Training Module to track time totals, endorsements, and FAA Part 61 checkride progress.

Overview

The Student Training Module is a free feature for flight schools. When enabled, it adds:

Enabling the Module

  1. Go to Settings (sidebar).
  2. In the Features section, toggle on Student Training Module.
  3. Click Save Settings.

The Students nav item and Training tabs will appear immediately for admin, owner, and CFI roles.

Training Records

Training records are manually-entered running totals per student per certificate level. They represent cumulative time earned toward that certificate — not individual flight logs.

Entering Time Totals

  1. Open a student's profile: Settings → Members → [Student Name].
  2. Click the Training tab.
  3. Select the certificate level tab (PPL, IR, CPL, CFI, CFII).
  4. Fill in the time fields:
SectionFields
GeneralTotal Time, PIC Time, Dual Received, Solo Time
Cross-CountryXC Total, XC PIC, XC Solo, XC Night, Long XC (150nm+)
NightNight Total, Night Dual, Night T&Ls (takeoffs and landings)
InstrumentActual IMC, Simulated, Approaches
LandingsDay Landings, Night Landings
  1. Optionally set:
    • Assigned CFI — the instructor responsible for this student's training
    • Status — In Progress, Ready for Checkride, Passed, or Failed
    • Target Date — goal date for the checkride
    • Checkride Date — actual scheduled or completed date
  2. Click Save Training Record.

Checkride Progress

Below the time entry form, the Checkride Progress card shows:

Progress bars turn fully green once a requirement is met.

Requirements shown are FAA Part 61 aeronautical experience minimums — your students may need more time based on individual performance.

Endorsements

The Endorsements card lists all endorsements required for the selected certificate level per FAA Advisory Circular AC 61-65.

Giving an Endorsement

  1. In the Endorsements card, find the endorsement (e.g., "Pre-Solo Knowledge Test").
  2. Click the circle icon next to it.
  3. In the dialog that opens, enter:
    • Date Given
    • Notes (optional)
  4. Click Save.

The endorsement is recorded with the date, the logged-in CFI's identity, and any notes. A filled green circle indicates the endorsement has been given.

Removing an Endorsement

Click the green check mark to open the remove confirmation and delete it. This does not affect any flight records.

Custom Endorsements

For endorsements not on the standard list (e.g., high-performance, complex, tailwheel):

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the Endorsements card.
  2. Click + Add Custom Endorsement.
  3. Fill in the endorsement label, date, and optional FAR reference and notes.
  4. Click Save.
